Try a Weighted Blanket When You Don’t Have a Lot of Time to Sleep

For many of us that run small business, or are just extremely busy people with a lot on our plate, we all wish that we didn’t have to sleep.  However, we all know how important sleep is, pulling late nights and all-nighters usually just makes us more and more tired, which is why we can’t skip it all together.   

But, there are ways to make your sleep more efficient. In fact, research shows it’s not the number of hours you get that matters the most — it’s the quality of the hours you’re getting. Getting higher quality sleep will significantly affect your productivity throughout the next day. Since I weigh about 125 pounds, I chose a blanket that was 15 pounds. 10% if 125 is 12.5 plus 2 extra pounds equals about 15 pounds.

My experience of using a weighted blanket

I have been working as a freelancer. I am quite busy everyday, so I can sleep at most 6 hours every night. Two months ago, I decided to invest in a weighted blanket to improve my sleep quality.

Each night I get into bed as usual and drape the blanket over the duvet cover and over my body, from my toes to my shoulders. I was falling asleep faster with less tossing and turning to get comfortable and relaxed. I was staying asleep through the night. Since I don’t bring it with me when I travel (kind of heavy), I am more aware of the difficulties I have trying to get to sleep and stay asleep without the help of the blanket.

Also, my dog loves the blanket. I just thought this was funny. My dogs were absolutely obsessed with this blanket which meant I had to share. They weren’t ever allowed under the blanket since it weighs more than they do, but they loved curling up on it. Unlike most of my clothes, the dog fur incredibly barely stuck to the cotton. That’s a big win for dog parents!
